The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Taraba State says it will
adopt the indirect primary for choosing candidates for the 2019
general elections in the state.

Addressing journalists in Jalingo on Monday, the state chairman
of the party, Mr Abdulmumini Vaki, said the indirect
primary has been the culture of the party in the state and
there is no plan to change it.

He added that their decision has been communicated to the
National Executive Council of the party.

Several other states have also adopted the same method of
electing candidates for positions in the party.

However, in Anambra State, the party adopted the consensus
method.

The leadership of the party in the state said the choice of
primary followed critical consultations among the party’s
stakeholders.

It further explained that of the three options presented by the
party’s National Executive Council, the consensus was accepted by
the majority of the members, after which a committee was set up to
commence operations.
