The KneePain Chronicles 1: Ive had a bad left knee for as long as I can remember. Ive tried gels injections, cortisone shots, steroid shots; all with temporary or no effect. It degenerated so badly over the past 3 years whereby it affected the things I loved to do most: excercise at the gym, dance, ( oh ! Do I just live and love to danceš¢), long walks with hubby when we go on holidaysā¦ my life actually. Most importantly, it affected my job: no zeal to do what I love most – Clinical Research Site Monitoring. šā¹ļøš. ( it involves flying around the US, sometimes working in 3 different cities or crossing timezones all in one day) A shout out to all my road warriors!!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch: my nagging knee OA became the startling reality that the Me I know, was taking a back seat. My gait changed. Mini my morkie and I started piling on pounds due to inactivityš¾š¶: sitting around binging on Netflix novelas and every forbidden edible albeit feeling sorry for ourselves. Toes and heel hurt badly- clearly, plantar facitis and heel spurs had set in. Sadly the love of my adultlife Ejikeme Obasi had to watch all this happen. Poor thing! Aww aww awwww! š¶
One final visit to my orth-doc ( with the intention of demanding a refund for all the ineffective meds), he recommended Total Knee Replacement Surgery. Like who does that? Who suggests such a debilitating procedure to someone who cant even stand a blood draw? Please make that make sense!!!.. Mba nuuuu! Uhn uhn! No way hosea! Not doing that shyt! Like: gerarahia mehnn! But no do no do, thats where I am today. Surgery is in 3 days. Ive researched everything on TKA ( total knee athroplasty) and it aint pretty! The pain I hear is 100/10.. and this chic dont do pain. Heck no!!!.. but im focussed on the bigger picture. New knee, new leg fingers .. oops! I mean toes , and NO MORE LIMPING! Ive got my physio team ready, got hubby to learn cooking for 3 months, got lots and lots of tissue for wiping my tears. In case you are suffering the same, watch this space for my daily updates!
