Edonet.ng gathered that the violence reportedly began after a young man identified as Chizzy Benz was stabbed to death during an argument allegedly stemming from a motorcycle payment dispute, commonly known as a “balance and carry” issue.
The incident sparked outrage among community youths, who launched retaliatory attacks on Hausa traders in the vicinity.
Eyewitnesses reported that several shops and makeshift stalls were destroyed, while many residents fled for safety as the situation spiraled out of control.
Security operatives, including police officers and local vigilante groups, were later deployed to the scene to restore order and prevent further bloodshed.
However, reports suggest sporadic violence continued into the night, with conflicting accounts regarding the number of casualties.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but community leaders have called for calm and urged both sides to avoid further violence as investigations continue.
