Following an investigative report by FIJ highlighting its prolonged downtime, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has brought its official web portal back online.
A verification check conducted by FIJ on Tuesday afternoon confirmed that the site is fully operational once more across major web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Brave.
FIJ had initially exposed the platform’s downtime on Friday, discovering that the government portal had crashed just 52 days after its public launch.
The ministry had unveiled the new address, fmhapr.gov.ng, on September 1 as its central online repository for departmental updates, welfare initiatives, and official notices, positioning it as an upgrade over its prior platform. Despite that rollout, visitors attempting to open the link late last week were blocked by connection errors on multiple platforms.
With its functionality now restored, citizens and stakeholders can once again access ministry services and published announcements without disruption.
This incident reflects a broader pattern of neglected digital infrastructure among public bodies. In a previous exposé, FIJ revealed that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had abandoned sections of its official domain for several weeks, leaving them compromised and redirected to online betting platforms.
